Quick and easy money vs. how we got here.
Wow! You really want to cram hundreds of millions (and 2-3 different generations) into one box.
Here is a bit of advice: If you find yourself saying people younger than you are lazier, don't have a good work ethic, and expect to drift through life getting things handed to them, you are probably wrong. The same was said about you. There just weren't a bunch of talking heads on 24 news channels or social media platforms like this for you to be bombarded with that criticism. The people who complained about you did it in environments that weren't even on your radar. But now that everyone on the planet is able to share their poorly thought-out opinions, you hear other people complain about younger people at a much higher rate than previously. This gives a false impression that since there are more people making the same generalizations, it must be true!
The premise of your claim is most "young people" want to be social media influencers. Your evidence: thousands of youtube channels that fit your characterization. That's selection bias. While there are plenty of travel vloggers, there are also young people on youtube documenting their welding skills. Even travel vloggers do have to work hard. Making a 10-minute video takes hours and hours of work. And there is no guarantee of being paid. Investing dozens of hours and a few weeks into a creative project with no benefits or paid time off in an industry that constantly changes the rules for success sounds like a lot of work to me. Takes a hell of a lot more entrepreneurial spirit than becoming a pilot.
