Senior FOs and even those who upgrade to CA will be leaving indefinitely regardless with the current rate of hiring going on at the ULCCs and Majors.

It’s true they have much bigger problems now and the near future, but if a good amount of new hire FOs jump ship then now they have a long term problem. Not only that but the training pipeline will slow down if it hasn’t already and so will their hiring inevitably. Even if they do hire CRJ new hires, many will go elsewhere if given a sooner start date.

I rather sit on reserve and not fly a lot, but still fly somewhat than end up sitting for 6 months not flying at all. Especially, as a new hire and I’m sure I speak for many others but not flying or being in a sim for such a long time will degrade proficiency, this causing extra IOE and extra training if need be. There’s only so much you can read and study, in the end it boils down to physically doing it.
