Only 16% of us voted NO for the current contract. That means 84% are happy with a lagging product. We have had opportunity to leverage, but chose not to. Short sightedness brings about a lagging contract. Somewhere, the sights have to be lifted.
This, in a nutshell, is exactly why we've lagged the industry for decades.
The last contract was even worse in that respect. On top of that, we ratified
19 side letters to that turd, several of which were done DURING Section 6 "negotiations". All benefited the company, and not only did we not get anything in exchange for them, not
one of them benefitted the pilot group in any measurable way. Several actually hurt us, not to mention squandering what little leverage we had, for less than nothing.
Yet, in every case, the majority couldn't wait to hit that YES! button.
It was truly surreal to witness.
Fingers crossed that more eyes are open, and the Kool Aid has been diluted these days.......
