From ALPA's perspective(follow the $$$), if it paid out as a signing bonus ALPA gets their cut..... yes, I know it sounds cynical, and I'm not castigating ALPA by any means, but after safety, $$$ comes into play somewhere in the ALPA calculus.

Money has to be figured somewhere, but it feels like the PR angle on the agreement would be more appealing to the union.
