Exactly. I don’t think everyone realizes how expensive getting rid of FSB would be to negotiate. It’s not just that each time a flight is now delayed 2+ hours waiting for a reserve, but now United has to often pay 3-4 additional pilots for the entire trip in scenarios like this. What would we be willing to give up to get that?

United has more widebodies than American and Delta combined. Therefore this situation comes up way more here way more than at American and Delta, which is why we have FSB. Personally I’d rather have way more widebody international flying with FSB than having much less widebody international flying at American and Delta but without FSB.

I agree it should pay something, but I completely disagree that it should go away.
