The company looks at any contract as a package deal as well and there is no free lunch. The term zero cost or free health care is misleading. That item has a cost on the spreadsheet and we are paying for it somewhere. Company paid health insurance, sick bank accrual, vacation, training pay, retirement, reserve enhancements, positive space commuting, and the hourly rate are all pieces of the pie. Any gain in one section had a cost in another. The total cost of the pie might increase, but how it is divided doesn’t.
