That's a bigger deal. If you can negotiate it. But for most airlines that's not how it works. Also... if you're convertible, and their only source of SCR is LCR conversions, that very quickly degrades the utility of LCR. Getting converted every week defeats the purpose.
AA's "get there when you can" callout policy for SCR is a little bit like LCR, assuming you're within driving distance and not in another state.
UAL starts everyone as LCR too, can only convert you a certain number of times per month, and have to pay you extra for doing it. Unless I'm mistaken.
