Been at chautauqua for almost a year, never had any real problems landing. Last week, VFR, light to no winds at IND, some reason was too late on the flare and bam, I thought I lost wings. The DC-8 hits hard even when you are good. I'm not and it still hits hard <G>
I asked one DC-8 driver (and fellow carrier Naval Aviator) how to fly the 8 in close before I started training, he said it was "all a mystery below 30 feet"
