(among other things…had two do a second checkride after i passed the first time because it turns out my examiner wasn’t qualified to do a type rating; passed again the second time, had pay issues never resolved after repeatedly told by mgt “we’ll take care of this”, then an assistant chief pilot who tried to treat me like a child on a commute issue after my car broke down and my commute flight canceled same day and after i worked things out with scheduling, i just went with the “life is too short to be unhappy” counsel). I don’t think the asst. Chief was expecting a probie to tell him…” i’m done with southwest’s empty promises, i quit”. I must admit it was very therapeutic to tell him that but i’ll also admit it was tough to walk away after going through all the training and thinking of all the incredible people and crews i met and highly respect.
My story is unique and my corporate job is one of those that are in the top 10% in my opinion. Everyone has to make their own decisions based on their unique circumstances. I truly wish and want the best to all my buddies still at southwest. I hope y’all get an awesome contract. I made clear in my resignation letter that i am optimistic for southwest but management needs to get their act together in these unprecedented times (pilot shortage).
That’s my .02. I just wanted you all to hear from the source and not just a rumor.
