My question is, what limitations are there on it? Surely all the pilots can’t just drop their entire schedules, so what are the mechanics and requirements to drop trips? At JBLU we have to have adequate reserve coverage or trade to another pilot.

thx
Same requirements.

The difference is the company is required to (by arbitration ruling) have 75% of the grid be green at the start of initial open time. Every month, every seat every base. Regardless of actual staffing, regardless of actual reserve coverage or open time trips to be covered. 75% of days HAVE to be green even if only by 1.

What this leads to is one person will be able to drop, it'll take the grid to one below. As soon as someone gets released to line or someone picks something up, back to green. Someone else drops etc.

It works pretty well in conjunction with how we handle released to line both in newhire and upgrades (both of which I disagree with how we handle it but that's a different discussion)
