United does not expect pilots to spend longer than 24 months at the regionals, United System Chief Pilot Capt. Mary Ann Schaffer told TPG in an interview.
“I don’t expect it to be longer,” she said.

That isn’t going to happen your first year because you aren’t flying 83 hours a month during Indoc and classes and LOE, and even if you were you couldn’t log it. And as junior man you’ll initially be placed on reserve which makes it unlikely you’ll log 83 hours a month there. It will take you longer than a year to become upgrade eligible and then back on reserve after you’ve successfully completed upgrade which will slow you down more. But any FO that washes out or goes off to a ULCC, is going to take their 121 hours with them, meaning somebody is going to have to fly just that many more because you can’t ALLOW CAs to flow until they have an upgrade eligible FO to upgrade to replace them.
if you are stupid enough to think the math works for ‘no longer than 24 months at a regional’ I sure don’t want you calculating reserve fuel for me because you are incompetent at simple arithmetic.
I know, Mary Ann, “Math is hard”.
