This is correct, if he was legal for the trip it should have gone to him. The scheduler probably did not want to remove his shortcall, assign the trip to him and then assign another shortcall which probably would go to you. He took the easy way.

this is exactly what happened. The 0500 trip is in open time all day…then at 1400 I have the trip and the junior pilot has a gentleman’s sc at 1000. Maybe the SCs were handed out by a different scheduler…then I got the trip. It just looked / appears wrong.
