because Jet fuel is Kerosene based which essentially is distilled from petrolium... So when oil prices go up, so does the price of JET fuel..

And oil prices change hourly... They are traded as commodities and so right now thats why its so volatile.... WHEN oil prices come back down, it will ease tension on all forms of travel/transportation (heres hoping)...

You can thank the OPEC oil ministers from countries like Venezuele and Iran for saying that they should CUT production and drive the prices higher....
