In effect, it appears to me that Isom is circumventing labor law, by appealing directly to the entire members of the union, without consent and/or counsel of the labor union leaders and lawyers.
At a minimum, this seems inappropriate. At its worse, it might be illegal.
Nothing in the RLA prevents management from speaking directly to labor. All union companies try that. It's up to the workers if they want to listen or not. A strong union would guide them in that.

My point is that Isom appears to be going AROUND the duly elected union negotiators, taking his case directly to the union members. Again, I’m not a labor law expert but that seems like bad faith bargaining tactics.
Imagine you were injured in a rear-end auto accident and the insurance company’s lawyer decided he didn’t want to deal with your legally appointed attorney/representative. So he just showed up at your door, (or sent you a video) trying to “good ol’ boy” you into a settlement. If that happened, the insurance company’s lawyer would be severely sanctioned by the court. What Isom did was very much the same thing. We’re REPRESENTED by our union leaders, negotiators, and legal counsel. Isom should negotiate WITH THEM!
Seems to me that either management is not smart enough to realize that they’re bargaining in bad faith or they think that our union is not smart enough to realize that management is bargaining in bad faith. Either way, one of them should be offended.
No you're not a labor law expert. Also you've apparently never been rear ended because the last time it happened to me the insurance company tried the exact scenario you mention. I laughed at him and called my lawyer and we had a good laugh together. Nobody "severely sanctioned" him. It's shady but not illegal. And some people actually are stupid enough to take the deal or they wouldn't try it. Same with the company.
