What most people fail to look at is the toll flying night hub turns takes on a body. Sure, your “buddy” made more last year, but did the actual fatigue and wear and tear in the body really make up for it??? I only ask because I’ve never met a 70/75/80 year old ex cargo dude…. But I know a lot of ex airline pilots that still live active and healthy lives after retirement.

No flames necessary. This is why many opt to get out of hub turns asap and do either international (which has its own issues) or day flying. At least at FDX it’s something that can be done relatively early in seniority progression. We even have new hires going directly into the 777 who will never do anything but long haul international in their entire career!
