Just so you know…you don’t instantly go on their contract once you merge. You have to have a 3 party negotiation with the company, Spirit ALPA and JB ALPA. My guess is that JB ALPA isn’t going to just agree to get no contract gains so that Spirit pilots can all be moved up to a better contract. So its going to be a long negotiation. Also the company will not really want to have any work rule or pay improvements so they will just filibuster as long as they can. I’d be shocked if it was less than 5 years to get a new contract. By then everyone will have a chance to go to a Legacy that will already have new contracts.
So much stupid in this post. JB has told it's shareholders it will buy Spirit and absorb them into JB, creating a larger JB. One paint job, one interior, one brand, one company.
But... They can't do that without a JCBA. They HAVE to have a JCBA, voted in by the pilots, before they can merge the company/operations.
All their brand aspirations, network and cost synergies depend upon merging the company into one larger single entity, and they can't do that without a JCBA. A joint CBA will take 9-18 months. They need a JCBA anyway to help with attrition and growing the airline.
