Not 100% of the time. I have found errors in payroll that were in my favor. Company acknowledged them and said "keep it - thanks for being honest". I really doubt anyone in payroll gets up in the morning looking to cheat some pilot out of a few dollars - much more likely is a simple mistake since the pay structure and rules are freakishly complex compared to most other industries.
When CS promises X and payroll deliveries Y, I begin to understand those who say “get it in writing”. I still don’t do that, but I’ve learned to watch my payroll like a hawk. Which is sad.
