The company advertises that interns have jumpseat privlieges, not the captain. Also I have a friend who is a technical writer with ASA and she went through ASA pilot training (no SIC ride) and gets to jumpseat all the time while only holding a private pilot certificate.

I suggest you bring your car. You'll get pretty stuffy in a hotel room for 3 months. Probably be a few nights when you can't sleep (if you're like me) and having a car was great for a middle of the night cruise through downtown to get my mind off training for a while. Just a little luxury worth having. (And I mean the downtown connector going 60 MPH, not the side streets at 3am) Also when you get hungry and don't feel like taking the hotel van to wendys. Consider it a comfort from home in a new place, if you will.
