Until they fill those 80 vacancies with people staying in Pittsburg, you can guarantee new hire classes will still be assigned Pittsburg. Once you have enough seniority to transfer out, you can. Good news about Pittsburg, you’d hold a line quickly. There is honestly no reason whatsoever to come to Republic over a AA WO. All the AA WO get the same work rules that Republic has (except junior manning) and those rules go in effect Oct 1. So if you want DCA go to AA WO and enjoy the $40,000 (base pay) raise plus bonuses. Unless you are too scared to fly a CRJ 700/900 or a E145?
At the risk of being goaded, I’ve been lurking this forum for a long time and am quite familiar with the general consensus and reception of your opinions. But anyway, afraid to fly a 145? Please. I fly a beat up 1968 twin otter single pilot and have had my share of mechanical emergencies in it. I came up in the skydiving world. I ain’t “afraid” of a clapped out 145 of CRJ. That said, I’ve been down that road and paid those dues. If I have the option, I’ll obviously take the newer/better maintained plane any day of the week. I have friends at Piedmont and was heavily considering it. For me it’s not all about the money, or even the fast advancement or flow. I just want to be treated with respect and professionalism, have a relatively reasonable schedule, drive to work, and work for a company that looks at their pilots as marathon runners, not sprinters. That said, sure, the shiny jet that doesn’t break every other leg will be nice too. If there is an option that better fits those considerations, I’m all ears.
