I’m not saying that you have to be a pushover, but you cannot just walk into the room and pound your fists on the table and demand what you want. You have to negotiate by convincing them that these changes are beneficial to them. Something that was sorely lacking from our current NC is creative options so that we as a pilot group benefit, but the Company does as well through efficiencies. Also, another concept that has been forgotten by our current NC, is that EVERYTHING in our CBA has a cost. For the Company, and for us. If the Company wants something, they’re going to have to give something up. Scope is obviously (and should be) almost priceless. The 10:00 thing should’ve been VERY expensive for the Company to get relief on, but alas they gave it away for pennies on the dollar…
Without the ability to walk away from the deal there is no amount of convincing that will yield results. Hey company, you know what would be good for you? How about you get all our scheduled days off to roll. Does that pay for a 15% raise yet? Is that a good deal for you, company? Jfc man you have to walk sometimes.
