B6 is not far from it's maximum size in BOS/NYC. More NYC slots are virtually impossible to obtain, and there is very little gate space to be further acquired in BOS. The base sizes will grow marginally over the coming years as 3 man crews to Europe are needed, and there is some BOS build out still to happen, but that's about it. 3,000 additional pilots literally HAVE to be based outside of the NE. It's not even a choice.

Their stated intention is spread the brand nationally, and they KNOW they need a more national footprint of pilot bases to attract and retain pilots.
