The fact that we need an "Age" just shows how pathetic and useless that first class medical is. Especially when we see pilots with a bmi of 25 and above easily able to pass it.
Make the first class medical much more hard core and it will work itself out.
I've flown with 40 year-olds that would freeze up during a go around because they have substandard cognitive abilities. I've also flow with people in their 60s that are mentally as quick as a teenager.
Care to opine why ATC controllers have an earlier mandatory retirement than we do?
