I heard a rumor that there are no-shows for Delta First Officer classes. Any truth to this?

I live in Atlanta, was getting my medical and this came from a Delta pilot. Specifically he stated that around 30% of classes are empty and that a lot of pilots were leaving for FedEx due to their pension.
