Got a buddy wanting to pick up. They told him in class if he’s awarded a premium trip it’s not at 2nd yr pay…which I said is BS since there’s nothing in the cba that says that.

Anyone in their first year gets laid second year rates for any pickups from the company. You’d be silly to try to pick anything up at premium because then you’re competing against all the senior bidders who are bidding premium and your premium pay will be the same as if you’d have bid the trip at straight time with the second year pay. So bid straight so you trump all the premium bids and you’re essentially being paid premium by earning second year pay. If you bid premium you don’t get 1.5x second year pay. It’s 1.5x first year pay.
