I have been using a Purty Neat Stuff roll aboard that has a specific slot in the front cover for my laptop. Works real well going through secutrity and for quick access without having to open my case all the way up. For a back pack, I use SpecOps brand, it has many zipper pockets and you can add exterior pockets to it as you need it.
