As someone who has FedEx as my number 1, the PIC requirement is an annoyance but not a deal breaker by any means. I'm going through upgrade training at my current company next week (5th type rating in 6 years - eventually the numbers will all straighten themselves out!) and will finally start building the 'right kind' of PIC time. All the previous 135 operations I've flown for have done a co-capt approach to flying, where on your day to sit left seat as PF you also had all the duties of PIC, and you were expected to log PIC as PF regardless of who was listed as PIC on the flight plan. There's even discrepancies about when to log PIC as PF at my current fractional depending on who you ask. I'm not sure that an additional 500 will make me a fundamentally different pilot at this point, but FedEx needs that specific box checked so I'm going to do it ASAP to get to where I want to be. Am I currently qualified? Probably. Will I leave my current fractional for anywhere besides FDX? No.
