You say you want the requirements changed because we are missing out on good candidates. Who are these good candidates and what makes them better than the candidates we are hiring? The only good reason to change the requirements is if we aren't getting quality candidates. You make the blanket statement that you would feel more comfortable flying around the world with a FO from SWA with no PIC experience than someone with the PIC requirement. Now you are just pulling at straws unless you knew and have flown with that individual. So, what's your case for getting rid of the PIC requirement? Is it because others are doing it? Not a very good reason. Is it because we don't have enough qualified applicants? We do. Or is it because the people who are being hired aren't that great and we need to expand the search?

What question of yours did I not answer? Candidates go to other airlines, instead of building PIC time, to gain seniority over coming to FedEx. Those are the candidates we should at least give a look at, because they will
never have the opportunity to work here unless they wait it out at a regional (or insert gig here). Some are willing to wait, yes (see above), which is great, but COVID has shown that it's best to run for the hills versus wait for a certain airline to call. I'd bet the individual above would be much happier if he could get on here a bit earlier without the coveted PIC time you all speak of.
Something happened for us to change the 4 year degree, didn't it? We did what everyone else is doing there didn't we???? Were we not getting quality candidates before with the 4 year requirement, lol????
The true head fake is you not acknowledging the fact that we have changed our hiring process so it is easier and more efficient, which is exactly what you dramatically eluded to in your previous post. We ARE moving towards lower standards because of the market at FedEx. We CAN hire no PIC pilots at FedEx and have strong FO's and CA's flying our aircraft around the world, it's already happening in the industry and it's only a matter of time before it happens here.
