I've posted FedEx vs UPS in another thread, but I'm specifically looking for insight on the commuting aspect. We were originally planning on moving to somewhere between Indy and Louisville after the AF, but now we want to go back home (Western Mass).

BDL will be 45 min drive (longer in the winter), ALB/BOS 1+45.

What would commuting be like as a new guy? I'm double-blessed with youth (34) and a very low SSN (only a factor for FedEx; 15xx). One of those actually is a blessing wrt earnings and time to retirement, that much I know. EDIT: I should have clarified that I mention this because I doubt I'll have much control over my initial assignment.

So far I've been heavily advised to go FedEx. I just want to make sure I 100% understand the decision I'm making, especially since we're now committing to NE / Mass.

Sorry to mix topics here, I'm mostly looking for insight into commuting for UPS, but I can't help but add in the add'l consideration (FDX) at this point.

Thank you!
