Part of the problem is we insist on the "union hall" when all other business everywhere has gone to telecommuting. Why can our "union" do zoom meetings to sell the POS ta but we can't vote or have a voice in normal business unless we re-arrange our schedule, commute a day early or late, book a hotel, and possibly arrange transport? And if we're stuck in BFE for an extra day due to a broken airplane and can't attend there seems to be no remedy. And if we get stuck out while carrying proxy votes it's so much worse. I can't believe the bass ackwards way we do things considering we're a global airline with people all over the map at any given time, plus half of us are commuters. This isn't a coal mine. Why is our union run like a coal miners union?

You can bet your ass I'll be at the recall meeting. $150 for the hotel, $250 for a flight, and a day off. And if I go NQ on landings and they slap a sim on top of the meeting then I'm turning down that sim no matter what. But this is a special circumstance. It's no way to do business as usual. Part of the reason we're in this mess is because I haven't been doing business as usual. It's way to costly for the average commuter, especially in terms of time with family. The TA makes things even worse, BTW. Have fun missing your union meetings because you were reassigned.

So, no. The "union hall" aka hotel or pub isn't an acceptable place to carry out business. The roots of the grass are here - online. Management can spy on a hotel room as easy as they can screenshot a forum. Unauthorized access to a computer system is also a crime, BTW.

So let's move this stuff where it belongs. Let's get everyone participating. The "union hall" is a joke in this age.
