I got here shortly after the merger (1990) and can tell you this: you knew within a minute of meeting the front-enders if they were purple or silver guys. As well, at least speaking for myself, I almost always found that the Tiger guys ran a more relaxed, enjoyable cockpit, whereas the FedEx guys seemed always more interested in letting you know who was in charge. In those first 5 or so years, I was rarely treated to a diet coke (or offered a beer) by a purple guy, which was the exact opposite of the silver guys, who seemed to love to go out with the crew. Just my observation, your mileage may vary.
