I pine for the 787 and love the 757 and I have never personally trained north of the Mason/Dixon line........I get a little melancholy whenever I think about the fact that at our current situation, I'll likely have to learn Airbus before I am able to retire off of a "wide body"..... unless the 75/76 enter a serious SLEP program. The way the 75's are being used lately (as 88 replacements) doesn't bode well for their long term life though.
787 = trash. You do long haul in a 767 (which I dearly love) and then do it in an Airbus and you will know what I am talking about.
