If you're referring to the 24 hour news casters, yes clickbait. If you're referring to WaPo, ABC, NYT but not WSJ, NPR, Newsnation, etc... then I think that's no doubt a tainted view. Almost all news agencies are in the game for profit but no news agency makes more than the very slanted ones. Editorial control is what separates the journalists from the others.
So I went to the gym. They had CNN on in front of my treadmill, didn't listen to the audio because I had music on.
But I ran for an hour, couldn't help but see the banners and CC... they spent most of that on covid, with big maps of almost every state bright red.
Towards the end they switched to the "global monkeypox pandemic".
