Luckily, the pilot side of aviation doesn't have too many nutjobs who can't figure out what they are. I for one would have serious doubts about the stability issues having a co-pilot who can't figure themselves out. There is a reason the suicide rate amongst this population is so high. Unstable mentally. Not fit to be trusted with an airliner.
There are plenty of people throughout the population, including “cisgendered” pilots, with mental and emotional health issues. The culture among pilots and lack of disability benefits for those sorts of issues encourages them to go unreported and untreated. In addition to the following incidents linked to below, there have reportedly been several cases of suicidal airline pilots killing everyone aboard by crashing the airplane, like the GermanWings incident and the recent China Eastern nosedive.
