I think that's actually telling. You can say what you want about Delta as a company but one thing they're always good at is making money. They're the Chickfila of airlines (do one thing and do it well). This thing is like Chickfila serving up a glorified chicken sandwich on a fancy bun with Grey Poupon and caviar or a bunch of other fancy crap on it. Nobody wants that, and it's expensive to make. Those who would eat something like that probably don't go to Chickfila in the first place and aren't taking the limousine through the drive thru to get one.
If Delta doesn't see potential in this thing, it's probably just a gimmick. AA and UA should be concerned by that.
I was watching a Boeing SST documentary last night and Juan Trippe was telling their pilot force in the 50s and early 60s that "hold on, because you guys will be flying supersonic in just a few years!". Recruitment/retainment stunt.
