1. It is difficult to know what the future holds for the 190 bases (well, except that they will disappear over the next few years). 1st yr pay is the same regardless of which plane you fly. I would still recommend JFK 190. There will be premium pay opportunities on all fleets. I dont think JFK 190 movement will be that much different than the 320, but you will have the opportunity to fly more 1-2 day trips vs the 320.

2. Junior lineholder for the JFK 320 and 190 in September were about the same seniority and had DOHs in 12/21 and 1/22 respectively.

3. 2day trips are very common for junior line holders on JFK 190, you can forget about it on the JFK 320 for a very long time. Generally the trips aren't productive. 10hr 2day trips, 15hr 3day, 20hr 4day, etc. 190 has more 3-4leg days and sits. 320 is usually 1-2 legs with minimal sit time. Overnights generally suck on the 190. They are shorter (10-15hrs) and crappy cities. 320 you'll spend a lot of time in the Dominican Republic in the middle of the night. Redeyes on the 320 suck, 190 doesn't do that sort of thing.

4. Reserve isn't like it is at the regionals, but you'll probably block 60ish hours during busy months and 30-40 during slower months. We have short call (2.5hr callout) and long call (14hr callout) which you bid for on a monthly basis. I'd expect to be gone 75% of the RSV days on your schedule.

5. Yes, 70hr min guar for line, 75 for RSV.

Overall, I would recommend JFK 190, and bid RSV if you dont want to work as much. There are opportunities to pick up premium (150%) or VDA (200%) flying on days off. Stick on the 190 for 1-2 yrs then bid over to the 320.
thanks for the reply!

is there not as much opportunity for premium flying / VDA on the 320 jfk?

Also, does the 320SQ do regular 320 flying? I think I read on reserve you can do regular 320 flying.

My initial inclination was to bid 190, especially since I’m typed on the 175, and then bid the 320 after a year or two like you suggested. But I’d love to fly the bus and just want to weigh my options !

For background I live in NY about 45 mins from JFK. Currently in phase 2 of the hiring process.
