I was watching a Boeing SST documentary last night and Juan Trippe was telling their pilot force in the 50s and early 60s that "hold on, because you guys will be flying supersonic in just a few years!". Recruitment/retainment stunt.
And Virgin America new hires in 2007 thought they'd all be Virginauts in a few years. What's ironic is that AA is the only carrier that could offer supersonic transport, and still be delayed with 3 gate changes.
