I actually also had a spoiled meal and got myself a steak later that night that was fully expensed which was nice. Can't change my schedule to save my life though as a coastal 737 FO like it seems SWA people can.
My crew meal is unavailable on those flights and I expense a replacement meal in Houston. For safety of flight reasons, there isn’t enough time to eat and safely manage the flight on those short 20 minute legs. I’m not one of those pilots who gets my tray at 10,000 feet on climb out - that’s a recipe for an altitude bust. A lot of times the FAs aren’t even ready for a quick meal service and you get your “dinner bell” at T/D.
If they ever start denying it, well, then I’ll still get a meal in Houston, even if the next flight is delayed. Nutrition is a safety of flight issue.
