While at AirTran (pilot) I used to receive "day dollars" for perfect attendance and/or not calling in sick. It was either $25 or $30 a month, can't remember, but it could be used toward buying uniform parts at the company store or you could get the money deposited to your checking account.
At UPS once your sick bank is build up (takes about a year and a half for a new hire) and if you have remaining sick days for that year (over the max allowable limit) you'll get reimbursed for those 'unused' sick days.
They used to pay it out in December but now it's being paid out in January. A very nice post Christmas “bonus” payout.

AV8OR,
What is you have a death in your family and work for a regional. Do most regionals allow you to take a few days to attend the funeral?
