I assume you meant "what if" and not "what is" - correct?

I don't think regionals differ much from the majors when it comes to dealing with personal emergencies - basically you take personal days, personal leave of absence, etc.

I believe that most, if not all airlines, will try to work with someone who has an emergency in his/her family...
