Just an observation but some of the 121 carriers that fly the 757/767 rely on contract instructors. I have heard from numerous buddies that some of that "club" is older gentlemen, age 70+, that come from a "old school" background, beat you down type of training. "Ballpark power settings? We don't provide gouge for that maneuver, you need to figure it out" etc etc. "That steep turn was horrible, lets do it again, but this time it needs to be better" (however no guidance or advice provided on how to do it better).
there is a group of those contract instructor dudes floating around the industry, I know that for a fact.
THIS. I just finished a program taught by contract instructors. Worst program in my 7 year career. They are way too picky about absolutely meaningless things. 'Why are you asking about procedures, lets talk about how to press as few CDU keys as possible'
