Life is short, so why do you want to live in misery when literary everywhere is hiring anyone that can fog a mirror. Honestly you and the company would be better off without each other. And don’t give the canned answer of, I have too much seniority when the big 3 have upgrades happening in 1yr…
Rather than answer your question directly, let me explain it to you with this allegory.
Four men walk into a restaurant to have lunch. They sit down, look at the menus, and place their orders with the waiter. The waiter returns after a while, not with their orders, but with four plates of steaming hot crap. The men stare at each other and then...
The Optimist-- appeals to the waiter to bring something else. He asks for the manager. He stands on his chair and rallies other restaurant patrons to join him in his cause. He runs to the front door to warn incoming customers. He shows everyone what other restaurants are serving. He does all this because he has
hope. He believes that with enough pressure, he can motivate the kitchen to prepare something better.
The Pessimist-- looks at his plate in disgust. He pays his bill and gets up from his seat. He cuts his losses and exits the restaurant hungry in search of something better. The cause is lost.
The Cynic-- eyes his plate suspiciously. Then, reluctantly and silently, he grabs his fork and begins to choke down his meal. He does this because it's the best he's going to get.
The Fool-- enthusiastically devours his plate because he thinks it's Filet Mignon.
I'm an
optimist. What are you?
