I had a family member with a serious medical problem that was unconscious, unresponsive and needed an ambulance to come to the house (which i discovered about 10 minutes before i left for work at 4am). I called 911

I called the kind folks in crew scheduling and told them I was waiting for an ambulance and would miss my show time. The scheduler replied in an annoyed tone "well are you going to make your next turn!" (referring to the second of three scheduled for the that day.) As it turns out, I wasn't overreacting by calling 911, my family member had come very close to death. The doctors determined that if I had left at 4am without checking their room, they would have passed

The scheduler gave me a sick event for missing an out and back. (one of only three you are suppose to get per year.)
