JS/D2 while on TDY to keep the per diem clock running is considered stealing from the company $60 per day, no different than a $8 mini.

With on going negotiations management would love nothing more then a few section 21 hostages.
Yes, they can figure out if you went home on an A12 and deduct per diem but they generally dont so your "stealing" comments are stupid because per diem isnt something I submit on an expense form, the company figures that crap out.

This whole thread is stupid because it really isnt something that comes up that often. Also, the only difference in entitlements between a forced tdy and a proffered tdy is the potential extra days pay for deadheading prior to your first assignment. When I was forced to TDY once I made sure my first trip started early so that I got an extra days pay for the DH the day prior and I did the same with the last trip of the month by getting in late. I also made sure I did a trip at the very beginning of the month and at the very end of the month to start/keep the per diem clock rolling. A12's are barely OK. I know every city pair is different but in my experience I don't have backups and I have only missed a trip once in 4-5 years (backup wouldn't have mattered). I put very little stock in A12's anymore. Maybe I have been lucky, IDK.
