This is a bit overdramatic/conspiracy theory for me. With my class, multiple management types had plenty of opportunity to hint at a Chicago base, which they did not take. That would've been the move if they really wanted to deceive us. Instead they gave what seems to be an honest assessment of where the growth opportunities are. It's a rapidly changing environment and they probably can't say what exactly is going to happen next.
Hang around for a couple years, then we can revisit. I think it was June or July there was an emphatic "we are not reducing DEN" then 4 weeks later, boom...massive DEN reduction bid. Unless they are seriously behind the planning game, showing their hand isn't this management group's style.
