You are right in saying that your path to the left seat by seeing it from the right seat will make it easier.
We need to stop pretending that being a Captain at Delta requires extraordinary ability that only comes with decades of experience. If you can upgrade to CA at a regional after a year and succeed with FAR less company support or from 20 year NB FO to WB Captain with zero time in type, our newly hired will be just fine.
