I am by no means belittling being a captain but if you have regionals forcing pilots to upgrade at 1000 hours 121 time, I’m thinking every pilot at DAL can make it happen. You are right in saying that your path to the left seat by seeing it from the right seat will make it easier.
We need to stop pretending that being a Captain at Delta requires extraordinary ability that only comes with decades of experience. If you can upgrade to CA at a regional after a year and succeed with FAR less company support or from 20 year NB FO to WB Captain with zero time in type, our newly hired will be just fine.
