A ton of guys were saying how it was setting him up to fail, but what most people didn’t realize he had 6k hours on the same plane at a prior company operating out of NY. not suggesting that person is unqualified or under qualified , just that getting a few hundred hours at DL might be a good thing, which as you pointed out he probably did because of the time between award and training.

3. For some this job is task saturating constantly and for others it’s easy money. To each their own on when they upgrade, each person who bids the left seat hopefully has done enough self reflection to decide they have the abilities.

I would think just about everyone we hire is capable of upgrading pretty quickly. It’s not being a captain/ aircraft commander that’s the new part, it’s just the way delta runs things that’s probably different.
