I am often times training HF frequency procedures to pilots that didn’t get the opportunity to see it on IOE. When I did IOE I asked the Check Airman about HF. His reply was “you won’t use them”. Dumbass.
The FAA has mandated a mentoring program that all airlines must comply with. I recently attended ours and it wasn’t very good. More company rah rah than anything.
For those of you wanting that fast upgrade I would highly recommend doing in the same plane you are an FO on. Right seat to lest seat will help tremendously.
At the regional I was at we were flying green on green into places a lot more challenging than Mexico City with nothing more than the green page and a jepp SQ overview page.
