You are a reserve commuter with an assigned trip.
You have someone who lives in base who wants to play the sitting at home game.
He takes both the reserve block and the trip from you the day prior. You wait until the very last second to extra fly the trip and check in. He keeps the reserve block. You get paid like a lineholder. He hopefully doesn't get assigned and stays in the crib.
Requires some trust, but I have done it many times with great success. You walk off the plane at the end of the trip with zero worries about having to call someone to ask mom and dad if you can go home.
That will also count towards 2nd year pay once above the original line value. So if it was a 3-day reserve block and your friend is assigned a 22 tfp 3-day, that'll be 4 tfp in the 2nd year pay column for the win.
