If only people from the past left us some sort of record about how society functioned 500, 1,000 or even 3,000 years ago. Maybe written manuscripts or perhaps art.
Anyone with a basic knowledge of culture and history knows the obvious. As someone who is a prolific reader of history (not just "Puritan") I would suggest reading some Herodotus or Gibbon do get an idea of how our culture evolved.

Only the most out there people would argue that you can identify as a different sex. XX/XY is pretty black and white. Gender identity is a different argument altogether, and frankly you haven’t looked at much history if you think a FA with XY chromosomes wearing a skirt is particularly out there over the course of human history…. You’d positively get the vapors over some Greek/Victorian norms.
