Yup, it will be interesting on how much brake pressure will FedEx apply to its hiring as they shut down 90 offices and 5 corporate locations. Impact or not recession is not a mirage any longer no matter what perspective one might hold. Businesses aren’t booming enough by any means to offset the impacts of the shutdown. Crazy times on every issue or agenda one might have. Time will tell. Brown’s better not bigger might just show to be the best approach on that side of the fence.
The one thing FedEx will not be doing is putting the brake on hiring. The CBA agreement gives retiring pilots a $40,000 bonus if they give a 1 year advance notice of retiring. The company knows what we need for the future and are replacing 40% of the force due to retirement. There will be no break in hiring. What could happen though could be dropping our wet leases since our flying is reduced opening up room to replace the wet lease flights.
